\u3000The 232nd Special Seminar on Agricultural Chemistry was organised by Prof Kanzaki of the Laboratory of Microbial Industry (https:\/\/ou-m-industry.jp) at Okayama University<\/a>.
\n The Laboratory of Microbial Industry was established in April 2022 as an endowed chair by Fujiwara Techno-Art Co., LTD. (https:\/\/www.fujiwara-jp.com)<\/a>. It belongs to the Faculty of Environmental and Life Science at Okayama University, and its main theme is the search for new applications of unused resources by utilizing the power of microorganisms, mainly through solid-state culture.
\n\u3000\u3000In the morning, we visited Fujiwara Techno-Art for a tour and a research meeting.\u2028The company celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2023. It has an 80% share in the development of technology to precisely mechanize the artisanal techniques of solid culture, which is important for fermentation production in Japan. They have also installed large equipment overseas. After the company introduction, we had a meeting to discuss future research developments. We had a very fruitful exchange of views on what kind of new changes could be produced by solid-state cultivation with actinomycetes! \u2028The company cafeteria, which had recently been renovated, had a very nice display of sake bottles from the sake brewing company with which the company does business!\u2028
\n\u3000\u3000The afternoon seminar was held at Okayama University. The speakers were Prof. Matsuzawa from Kagawa University, Dr. Maruyama, and Prof. Hamano from Fukui Prefectural University.\u2028 First, Prof. Kanzaki gave a brief biography, after which the lectures were given in turn. Many students and faculty members attended, and during the Q&A session, many questions were asked about research.\u2028
