2025年12月15（月）-20日（土）の約1週間、The International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies (Pacifichem) 2025がハワイ・ホノルルのHawaii Convention Centerにて開催されました。
この会議は5年に1度開催される、化学分野で世界最大級の国際会議の一つで、メインテーマは”Building Communities to Address Global Challenges” （地球規模の課題解決に向けたコミュニティの構築）。
化学の全領域をカバーする膨大な数のシンポジウムが企画されており、大きく5つのカテゴリー、Core Chemistry（基礎化学：有機、無機、物理、分析など）、Chemistry for Sustainability（持続可能性のための化学）、Chemistry for Life Science & Health（ライフサイエンス・健康）、Chemistry for Materials & Technology（材料・テクノロジー）、Chemistry for Global Challenges（地球規模課題への挑戦）に分類されています。
今回の大会では、12月15-17日に、学術変革領域（A）予知生合成科学が共催する#BIO009: Biosynthesis of Natural Products and Biomaterialsのセッションが行われまた。この中で丸山先生が、セッション２の座長をUCSDのMoore教授と一緒に務め、セッション４では招待講演を行いました。またポスターセッションでは、長谷部先生とD3の兼田くんが最新の研究成果を報告しました。
また19日は#CLH021: Membrane-Active Peptides at the Intersection of Chemistry, Biology & Technologyのセッションが行われ、当研究室から濱野先生が口頭発表しました。
ホノルルに到着した14日から学会最終日の20日まで、毎日土砂降りの雨！ハワイらしい気候ではありませんでしたが、海外のたくさんの研究者とディスカッションもでき、有意義な学会参加でした！
The International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies (Pacifichem) 2025 was held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, from December 15 to December 20, 2025.
Held every five years, this is one of the world’s largest international chemistry conferences. Its main theme was “Building Communities to Address Global Challenges.”
An extensive number of symposia covering all areas of chemistry were planned, broadly categorized into five main themes: Core Chemistry (covering organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, etc.), Chemistry for Sustainability, Chemistry for Life Science & Health, Chemistry for Materials & Technology, and Chemistry for Global Challenges.
During this conference, the session #BIO009: Biosynthesis of Natural Products and Biomaterials, co-organized by the Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas（Ａ） “Forecasting Biosynthesis”, was held from December 15-17. Within this, Dr. Maruyama co-chaired Session 2 with Prof. Moore from UCSD and delivered an invited lecture in Session 4. Additionally, in the poster session, Dr. Hasebe and Mr. Kaneda (D3) presented their latest research findings.
On the 19th, the session #CLH021: Membrane-Active Peptides at the Intersection of Chemistry, Biology & Technology was held, where Prof. Hamano from our laboratory gave an oral presentation.
From our arrival in Honolulu on the 14th until the conference’s final day on the 20th, it rained every day! While it wasn’t the typical Hawaiian weather, we had meaningful discussions with many researchers from overseas, making it a productive conference experience!
